Due this boats previous outboard failing, the owner was required to repower and after doing some research on the new range of Mercury 3.4L V6 175hp – 225hp Four Strokes he decided to repower with new Mercury 3.4L V6 EFI DTS 225hp Four Stroke. The outboard was packaged up with a Mercury 17P Enertia Propeller, Mercury Vessel View 403 screen and DTS (fly by wire) controls.
With the boat being in such good condition, the re-power itself was actually quite simple. Apart from the installation of the new outboard, a seal/service kit was put through the hydraulic steering ram as it was leaking upon arrival, whilst a bulkhead fitting was also installed to the transom to suit the hydraulic steering hoses.
The boat reached a top speed of 48mph, while its ideal fuel economy was at 3500rpm which saw the boat travelling at 1.8km/litre at 21 knots.
The owner was very happy with the repower, noting the reduction of noise from his old two stroke, response from the DTS controls and mid-range torque.
